Cookies Notice.
Last updated · 25 April 2026
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to remember. We use as few of them as we can — and we ask before loading the ones that aren’t strictly necessary.
The categories we recognise
We split cookies and similar trackers into three honest categories. The first runs whenever you visit the site; the others wait for your permission.
- Essential
- Required for the site to function — for example, remembering that you have already submitted a reservation form so you don’t see the same one twice. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics
- Help us understand which pages people read and where our writing loses them. Loaded only after you consent.
- Advertising
- Let us measure the response to the small number of adverts we place, so we don’t spend money writing into the void. Loaded only after you consent.
What is currently loaded
At the time of writing, we load no analytics or advertising trackers on this site. The notice below describes what we will load when, and only when, you consent through the on-site banner we are preparing.
- Google Analytics 4 — _ga, _ga_* (analytics)
- Anonymous identifiers that help us count unique visits and measure the journey through the page. Set by Google. Expires after up to two years.
- Meta Pixel — _fbp (advertising)
- A first-party identifier used to measure the reach of any adverts we run on Facebook or Instagram. Set by Meta. Expires after ninety days.
Managing your preferences
Once the on-site banner is in place you will be able to grant, refuse, or withdraw consent at any time, and your choice will be remembered. In the meantime — and always, if you would prefer — you can clear or block cookies through your browser’s settings. The Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk publishes plain-English guidance on doing this in every common browser.
Other technologies
We do not use device fingerprinting, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party advertising networks beyond Meta. If that ever changes, this notice will be updated before the change takes effect.
